ABOUT STORYBRIDGES

STORYBRIDGES to WORLD LANGUAGES for CHILDREN: Spanish / French / German / ESOL is a unique program for kids ages four to nine. There are three components of the program an Audio-Story Disc, a Teachers Disc, and an Interactive CD that uses MS PowerPoint and Word. Words and phrases are taught in each target language through pictures, stories, songs, games and skits.
Each set of story CDs accommodates a variety of learning styles such as cooperative learning in classrooms/homeschooling/and self-teaching.

PURPOSE

This is an oral approach that can be used before the basics of the learner's native language, such as reading and writing, have been mastered. Language is most easily learned by hearing sounds, figuring out their meanings and using them. Each Audio-Story CD is a self-teaching tool and can be used for independent study or a classroom program. Students listen to the CDs and figure out the meaning of target language dialogues from clues in the carefully crafted English narrative. Students become active participants, playing games, telling stories, singing songs and performing skits.
Teachers use the Teachers’ (Data) CD as a resource for activities and assessments. National Standards in Foreign Language Education, Skills and Multiple Intelligences met in Activities and Assessments are listed and can be included in lesson plans.
The NEW interactive Bridges CD using MS PowerPoint and MS Word contains self-teaching tools such as a Digital Comic Book, A Printable and Digital Coloring Book, A Vocabulary List to Digitally Illustrate, Directions for making Jigsaw Puzzles, Grids for Games, Assessments, and a Self-Evaluation Form.

The stories are in PPT format so that teachers, parent organizations or a corporate sponsor can print them as language books for the students!

"This week I received an email from a friend who recently moved to France, included were pictures of deux papillons from the Papillon Jardin!! My kids were thrilled! Right off the menu of Le Rossignol!! We sent back a note to my friend with le rossignol's song about his new home (which my 3 year old loves to sing!) My children 9, 7, 3 have all enjoyed the stories and are really learning the phrases. You have created a wonderful context for application through the stories and the review. Merci beaucoups.''
